T-Life Coverage Map + Legend User Study
Every month T-Mobile got over 1 million location searches on the web domestic and international coverage sites. However, our coverage maps experience was not available in the T-Life app, and the data input remained underutilized. When integrating coverage maps as the default map type within T-Life, we were able to integrate coverage information with ‘People’ and ‘Devices’ being tracked in My Life.
The Team + My Role
I served as Design Lead (UX/UI) working with another Sr. UX Designer. I collaborated with Product Managers as well as T-Mobile’s user research team to complete a study and provide the best solution for T-Life app users.
How might we…
Bring our enhanced Coverage Maps experience to the T-Life app?
Integrate coverage information seamlessly with ‘People’ and ‘Devices’ being tracked in My Life?
Design our maps to intuitively guide customer exploration and understanding through timely information presentation?
Effectively communicate coverage details including indoor/outdoor coverage?
Ensure our network status is conveyed accurately and instantaneously through dynamic on-map tools and direct communication channels?
Map legend usability study
We designed several options for the map legend when adding coverage maps to T-Life and chose three of those variants to evaluate with real users in a moderated usability study. Below is the prototype showing the three tested flows along with the study results, where we gathered valuable user insights about how well users comprehend the coverage information displayed.
